The story follows Rick Deckard, a retired blade runner who is brought back onto the force to hunt down a group of rogue replicants who have escaped from an off-world colony and made their way to Los Angeles. As Deckard begins his investigation, he meets Rachel, a replicant who has been implanted with false memories and believes she is human. Deckard's pursuit of the replicants leads him to a confrontation with their leader, Roy Batty, who has come to Earth in search of his creator in hopes of extending his own limited lifespan. As Deckard and Batty engage in a deadly game of cat and mouse, Deckard begins to question his own humanity and the morality of his job.
